Firstly, I'm not versed at all in the world of Mac. I'm learning, so please bear with me if I get confused.
I need to do this from within windows, as my only working machine at this point is the other half's Asus EEE-PC 1000H. I can if needed, use a Live distro if needed.
1) How do I get a .dmg ISO file to pendrive so I can re-install the OS on a G5? I've tried using transmac, but it hangs when expanding the image every time I try it.
2) Am I right in assuming that the latest OS a PPC based Mac can run is 10.5.6
3) Is it even worth trying? I bought it for practically pennies (I remember wanting one when they were announced, right until I saw the price), as I only intended to gut it and use the case to house a Linux rig. Free chemical structure drawing software for mac. Out of curiosity, I added memory and HDD as it came without, and the only faults I can see are no OS (Obviously, given it came sans HDD), and the fans ramp *all* the way up. The latter appears to have some hope, by cleaning out the PSU and possibly running some sort of Apple Diagnostic Disk. I have no idea what OS-X of this era and this machine itself are capable of.
All help appreciated by this Apple noob.

Power Mac G4 Install Disk Download
Power Mac G5
Powermac G5 does not boot from USB!!! Either: - Borrow a CD-Drive and install it (or buy a cheap one) - Borrow a FireWire-CD Drive - Take an external Firewire HD and use it same way as described for the USB Stick - Take an internal disk and use it the same way as described for the USB stick. https://telrogeda1973.mystrikingly.com/blog/.
- David Pollock successfully installed Leopard onto his Sawtooth 450 MHz Power Mac using a G5 iMac and Target Disk Mode. His Sawtooth has 1.25 GB of RAM and a Radeon 9800 Pro video card, and he says, “it appears all functions work, a bit slow, but it does work.”.
- Turns out the other computers are Mac Pros. SO I found the 2 install discs for my Power Mac. I inserted disc 1 into an external disc drive, plugged into my computer. My computer doesn't have an internal disc drive. That didn't work, perhaps the disc didn't load in time. I also tried safe booting.
